This season is about the modern Woman on the Move; she’s bold, ambitious and ready to take on anything.

We asked Digital Content Creator, Writer and Grazia Market Editor Helen Chik—a global woman on the move—to take a selection of our newest shoes with her on a whirlwind trip to NYC.

How are you ‘on the move’ in 2019?

I’m working on some really exciting projects this year, including the release of my first book on the modern-day dating scene and as part of this, I plan on researching how the dating ecosystems (as I like to call them) differ across major cities. That’s why I’m on my current trip to one of the biggest in the world: New York. On top of that, my friend and I are looking to start our own business (a secret for now), which will mean travel to meet with suppliers and manufacturers—it’s going to be busy.

What are your go-to shoes for a typical day?

For me practicality, versatility and comfort are such big things—unless I’m going on a date. In that case... bring on the ridiculous 7-inch stilettos. A good sneaker is definitely a staple for me or a boot that has a block heel and isn’t too high. It can’t hurt my feet within minutes of walking.

What do you look for in a statement shoe?

The main things would be longevity. I understand that this may be counterintuitive as the word statement suggests something that brings a wow factor to your entire look. The pièce de résistance to your outfit should be bold but also something that withstands 'trends' and time. There's no point having a statement shoe if you only plan on wearing it once.

What is your favourite new MIMCO shoe?

I LOVE the Meridian Boots to death! I have literally survived three weeks of New York winter at its worst in them—snow days included. They were comfortable to walk from downtown to midtown (10,000 plus steps) and they look so sexy! The print surprisingly works with so many looks and is incredibly wearable despite what I first thought when I saw them. It's easy to have a classic black boot in your arsenal but having a versatile snakeskin boot is even better.

What is your favourite accessory trend for the season ahead?

Fanny packs, bum bags—whatever you want to call them. They’re easy, convenient and let you walk around hands-free.
