How would you sum up what you do?

I'm the party starter and the reason you can't feel your feet at the end of the night. DJ-ing is the name of the game and having a good time is always the aim!

Did you grow up in Joburg? What’s your favourite place in South Africa to live?

Yes, I'm born and bred in Johannesburg and have loved every minute of it. JHB is the best city to live in, it's always buzzing with new stuff to do, there's a certain drive about the city that reminds me of New York that keeps our blood rushing and pushing forward for the next best thing. It's exhilarating!

What’s on rotation for you at the moment?

There’s plenty. I'm a huge supporter of locally produced music so the likes of AKA's "Run Jozi", KO's "Cara Cara", Cassper Nyovest's "Doc Shebelebza" & Heavy K's "Easy To Love" will immediately spring to mind. Internationally, DJ Snake's "Turn Down For What" is always sure to get a party pumping.

You’re a DJ. Tell us about your job, who you have played with, where you have performed and where we can listen to you?

I have the best job in the world! I get paid to party, have a good time and be the reason people experience euphoria when they're on the dance floor.

Being the person to select the soundtrack for the night gives me a lot of power and love for what I do because I can walk away feeling like I've changed people's lives.  I mainly play in and around the country in the main clubs and festivals hosted in the various regions. I've played with some of the greatest DJs in the world, the likes of DJ Drama, DJs Fresh and Euphonik, Black Coffee, DJ Tira, Roger Goode and many others. I've been lucky enough to have opened for big international acts, such as Chris Brown, Kanye West, 2 Chainz and Kendrick Lamar.I've travelled widely to DJ as well in Miami, Namibia, Zambia, Lesotho, Swaziland and Malawi. I have a weekly Hip Hop radio show on 5fm, every Sundaynight 10pm-1am called "The Stir Up" and a weekly feature on Channel O where I mix music videos on a programme called "Bassment". I occasionally have some of my mixes played on the radio station and later uploaded on my SoundCloud Page for the listeners.

How much does music influence your life?

Music is my beginning and end all to everything I do. I relate all the influences in my life to a certain song or album because music expresses the feelings that we can't find the words for ourselves. There's always a relatable lyric that speaks to every situation in our lives. I wouldn't be able to live in a silent world or I wouldn't have another purpose.

What’s one line/lyric from a song that has stayed with you and why?

DJ Jazzy Jeff's song "Love what you do, and do what you love". I've always believed that you need to love what you do and the money will come. Having a passion for what you do will always result in success.

What’s the best place to eat in Joburg?

Dukes Burgers in Greenside. The burgers there will change your life! Homemade patties with an extra dose of everything! They're amazing!

If someone only had 24 hours in Joburg what would you suggest they do/see/visit?

I would suggest they have a box of Chicken Licken HotWings to kickstart the day, spend an hour in Soweto Towers for a bungee jump and quad biking, spend some time at Gold Reef City, have dinner at Sakhumzi's in Orlando West where they can experience the local culture and history next to Mandela's house and lastly, party it up with me at some of Jozi's premium clubs.

What did you think of Tkay Maidza’s Switch Lanes track?

I think it's a great pop song, which will get the club pumping and dancing.

What’s next for you?

I'm concentrating in my radio career, music production and eventing. I would like to eventually get into TV but there’s a time and place for everything. My first single is what I'm excited for. I'm hoping to have that done by mid 2015. Watch this space
