HOW TO HAIR

When it comes to defining the irresistible allure of Spring Racing season, there’s nothing more important than settling on the perfect headpiece to steal the show. In a season of gritty embellishments, ornate crowning glories and sophisticated floral headwear, all you need is a simple, chic way to tame your tresses come race-day. Here we show you four easy wear hairstyles to master at home…and the perfect headpieces to match.

TEXTURED WAVES

To achieve this natural look, use a generous spritz of salt-spray and then blow dry. Section the hair and curl each piece in different directions with a curling tong. Mould the curls into loose uneven waves by running your fingers through the hair.

Complete the look with a sensual face screen.

CLASSIC PONY

For a sleek and sophisticated look, part hair cleanly down the centre and brush back into a ponytail. Secure tightly at the nape of the neck (a generous spritz of hairspray will ensure there are no fly-aways). Take a very small section of hair from underneath the ponytail, spray with hairspray and wrap it around the hair band, securing with a bobby pin.

For the ultimate in feminine elegance, top this look off with a crown.

THE FRENCH BRAID

Playful and feminine – we’re all about the braid. Starting on the hairline just above your ear, take three sections of hair and begin plaiting them together. Add sections of hair into the braid, one piece at a time as you make your way right around the hairline, alternating from the top and bottom as you go. Finish off by plaiting the last of the hair and pinning it under the original French braid.

For the ultimate in understand elegance, wear with a classic panama or fedora.

LOOSE CURLS

Always classic, get this look by creating an exaggerated side part and tucking the smaller side behind the ear. Slide in a bobby pin to keep in place. Tightly curl sections of the hair, before brushing out to create sexy, retro-waves.

Finish with a statement-making comb or hair charms.
